The latest edition of the Plaza Pública de Cadem survey revealed that 76% of people consulted agreed with the start of a new constitutional process in Chile.
Likewise, 49% say they believe that the realization of this process should be defined through a new entry plebiscite, while 44% are inclined to a political agreement to have a new Constitution.
As for the mechanism for drafting the Constitution, 49% prefer a mixed convention, composed of equal parts of elected congressmen and experts appointed by Congress. Already 29% are in favor of a fully elected convention and 19% prefer Congress along with experts appointed by them.
The survey also queried what the main winners and losers are after the September 4 exit referendum. Already 30% say they believe that the winner was the command of the Rejection, 23% the center-right parties and Chile Vamos, and 22% that it was the center-left politicians who voted for the Rejection.
On the other hand, respondents indicated that the main losers were President Gabriel Boric (39%) and the Communist Party (25%), in addition to conventional members of the Frente Amplio (21%), the Comando de Aprovado (20%) and President Boric’s office (19%).
Finally, regarding the content of a possible new Constitution, 78% prefer that voting be mandatory, 74% are in favor of guaranteeing the ownership and heritability of pension funds and 73% have opted for multiculturalism over plurinationality.
