Chile: Rescuers free dog trapped for days on steep rocks in Biobio River

One would hardly believe that she was helpless dog she would survive trapped for endless cold days on the rocks at the mouth of the second largest river her Chile.

The men of the port, fire brigade and navy who tried yesterday Thursday (5/1) morning to save the medium-sized female dog with black hair on the steep rocks in Biobio, 500 kilometers from the capital Santiago, christened her Sirena ( “Mermaid”).

Captain Norman Aumada said the operation was difficult due to bad weather, strong winds and rough seas. However, firefighters, harbor guards and divers of the PN were able to free her, one day after they were notified by residents of Walpen that the dog remained trapped for 24 hours.

An animal welfare organization undertook to transport Sirena to a veterinary clinic and, after passing tests, put her up for adoption.
