This Saturday (20), 15 days before the referendum on the Constitution of Chile, a new edition of the Citizen Panel’s survey was released – the last one before the consultation on September 4th.
According to the survey, when asked “with the information you have today, in the plebiscite of the new Constitution, would you vote…”, 49% of respondents indicated that they would vote “rejection”. Meanwhile, 39% assured that they would choose “approval”. In addition, 12% declared that they “do not know/will not vote”.
When estimating the likely number of voters for the plebiscite, the survey projected that 54% leaned towards “rejection” and only 46% towards “approval”, narrowing the gap between the two options to 8 points.
The survey also detailed the difference between “approval” and “rejection” by age. Between 18 and 30 years old, the option “I approve” has an advantage of 10 points, reaching 48%. This is the only age group where this preference has an advantage.
Between 31 and 40 years old, “rejection” prevails, with 50%. Between 41 and 50 years old, the same option exceeds 56%; and the same case occurs between 51 and 60 years old, where it reaches 53%.
