Trade in goods between China and Africa rose 27.4 percent year on year to 1.34 trillion yuan ($ 209.7 billion) in January-October, according to data from China’s General Administration of Customs.
The growth rate of imports exceeded exports in the ten months of January-October. Chinese exports to Africa reached 782.54 billion yuan during the same period, up 24.5% year on year.
Chinese imports from Africa stood at 558.14 billion yuan, up 31.7% year-on-year.
Chinese exports to Africa consisted mainly of mechanical and electrical products, but also labor-intensive products.
Exports of mechanical and electrical products amounted to 355.19 billion yuan, accounting for 45.4% of the value of total Chinese exports to Africa during the same period.
Exports of labor-intensive products reached 213.38 billion yuan, accounting for 27.3% of total exports.
