China is “seriously concerned” about the United States Golden Domo Defense Defense Shield project and urged Washington to abandon development, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday (21).
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he selected a design for the $ 175 billion project and appointed a space force general to lead the ambitious program that aims to block threats from China and Russia.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, when asked about the project at a regular press conference, stated that he brings “strong offensive implications” and increases the risks of the militarization of outer space and an arms race.
“The United States, by adopting a ‘US in the first place’ policy, are obsessed with seeking absolute security for themselves. This violates the principle that the security of all countries should not be compromised and mine strategic balance and global stability. China is seriously concerned about it,” Mao said.
She urged Washington to abandon system development as soon as possible and to take steps to strengthen trust between the great powers.
