After the unprecedented demonstrations and the images that went around the worldthe China announced today a relaxation of health measures against covid-19, allowing those with mild or no symptoms to remain in isolation at home and limiting the compulsoriness of tests.
Based on the new recommendations presented by the National Health Commission, the equivalent of the Ministry of Health, “those who are asymptomatic or show mild symptoms can remain in quarantine at home with enhanced health surveillance and can be transported to hospitals for treatment in time , if their condition worsens”.
At the same time, China will further limit the mandatory tests and it will no longer be necessary for those traveling to another province to show a negative covid test.
Quarantine rules had been relaxed somewhat as early as last month and provided for the imposition of lockdowns only in housing complexes where cases were detected.
But from now on, the National Health Commission said, high-risk areas should be clearly defined by building, unit, floor and household and should not be arbitrarily extended to entire housing complexes and communities.
These announcements came a few hours after the official publication of alarming data for the world’s second largest economy: in November, exports and imports in China collapsed, due to a strict policy of “zero covid” and sluggish demand.
