The World Health Organization may have ended the global emergency for the coronavirus, but the China remains on alert, with the country’s top health official saying vaccinations are increasing among high-risk groups.
The WHO has raised the highest level of alert for Covid-19more than three years after it was declared, saying that countries should now manage the virus alongside other infectious diseases.
The termination of the state of alert does not mean that the coronavirus will disappear, but its impact can now be effectively brought under control, said Liang Wanyan, head of China’s COVID-19 response team under the National Health Commission, in an interview with state-run CCTV network published today.
China will continue to monitor for variant strains of the virusto increases vaccinations in vulnerable groups and yes is trying to improve treatment options for Covid-19Liang said.
