China: Increase the supply of copyright protection services from 2020

The IP protection sector recorded an annual increase in the number of providers and specialists providing related services, according to the China National Copyright Protection Service (NIPA).

By the end of 2020, there were 73,000 copyright operators in China with an annual increase of 9.3% and 865,000 experts in the same field, with an annual increase of 5.6%, according to an official NIPA report.

Revenue from copyright services exceeded 225 billion yuan (about $ 35.3 billion) in 2020, up 4.5% year-on-year.

The same report highlighted the fact that more than 60% of China’s copyright holders are located between Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Region. .

The use of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and large-scale data processing, has boosted the supply of copyright protection services, according to the same report.
