China: Logistics in e-commerce in 2021

The e-commerce sector in China recorded modest growth last year, according to a joint survey by the Chinese Federation of Logistics and Markets (CFLP) and e-commerce giant JD. com.

According to the research, the index that monitors logistical support activities had an average value of 110.3 points in 2021, with an increase of 2.4 points from the previous year, closing at the average price of 2019.

Overall demand for logistics support for e-commerce grew relatively rapidly last year, with the built-in business volume indicator at 126.6 points, up 3.4 points from 2020.

The volume of business transactions in rural areas maintained its growth momentum, with the integrated index averaging 125.9 points in 2021, up 7.6 points from the previous year.

In December 2021, the index that records the logistics activities for the e-commerce sector was recorded at 108.8 points, down 0.7% from November.

The research predicted that the demand for logistical support services in the mentioned sector will recover in the medium term, as the holiday season of this Spring Festival is approaching.
