China: New Military Gymnasiums in the Taiwan Strait – US and EU concern

China’s armed forces announced today the launch of new, extensive military high schools in the Taiwan Strait, just a day after exercises related to the exclusion of the island, which Beijing considers as a province of China. The new Gymnasiums aim to “test the capabilities of the troops in terms of (…) exclusion and zone control”, as well as to carry out “precision strikes in key targets,” explained Xi Y, a spokesman for the Eastern Business Theater of the Chinese Army. They are held in central and southern sectors of the island, according to the same source. This is a crucial road to world trade. Chinese authorities have been stepping up in recent years in high school gymnasiums, developing military aircraft and warships of various types around Taiwan, in support of the island’s claim that the current government in Taipei rejects.
