China Semiconductor Industry Association established a working group with a similar American structure

The China Semiconductor Industry Association (CSIA), which brings together major industry players, has announced the creation of a working group that will include representatives from the American Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).

The announcement on the CSIA website, which has already caused a surge in the prices of shares of core companies in China, may indicate closer cooperation between the two countries in the future.

The CSIA said in the joint working group each side will be represented by ten chip companies.

The working group will meet twice a year to discuss issues such as intellectual property, trade policy and encryption.

The date of the first meeting and the participating companies have not yet been announced.

China is the world’s largest semiconductor buyer, but its domestic chip production is negligible. Beijing has long urged local leaders and private enterprises to invest in a domestic industry that lags behind America, Japan and South Korea. However, the lag still remains.
