China, sudden lockdown: locked at a man’s home on a blind date

Sudden lockdown, and she is stranded for four days at the home of a man from whom she had gone to dinner on a “blind date”. It happened in China: Wang, a young woman from Zhengzhou, met a potential partner in his apartment in recent days.

“I’m getting old, and my parents set me ten blind dates. The fifth man wanted to show me his cooking skills and invited me to dinner at his house, ”explained Wang, who posted videos of his unique adventure on social media. While the two were having dinner, a sudden outbreak of Covid cases triggered quarantine for thousands of people in different areas of the city. The area was placed in isolation.

As a result, Wang was unable to return home. And he began to publish on WeChat short videos about his daily life in isolation, the landlord who cooks meals for her, does the housework and works on the laptop. “Apart from the fact that he’s as mute as a wooden dummy, everything else about him is pretty good,” explained Wang. “Although his food is mediocre, he is still willing to cook, which I think is great.”

So, did the sudden lockdown cause love to blossom? Although the two have lived together without obvious problems, the answer is negative.

Wang’s video diaries, however, went viral on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, and the related hashtag has been viewed more than 5 million times across China. The woman’s sudden notoriety has also created some embarrassment to her potential suitor, who asked her to remove some videos. “His friends called him and I think this experience definitely affected his life, so I have deleted the videos for now,” Wang explained in a new video. “Thank you all for your attention … I hope the epidemic ends soon and that my single sisters will find a boyfriend soon too.”
