China: three-day lockdown in Yigoo

The municipal government of Yigu, a city of 1.9 million inhabitants, a major export hub in the eastern province of Zhejiang, China, has announced that it will impose a three-day lockdown starting today due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

Across mainland China, 2,166 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed in the previous 24 hours, 700 with symptoms of the infection caused by the new coronavirus and 1,466 asymptomatic, the National Health Commission (s.s.: the Ministry of Health) also reported. No deaths due to COVID-19 were reported. No cases were reported in Shanghai, while two were confirmed in Beijing.

Officially, the toll of the victims of the pandemic in the giant Asian country remains at 5,226 dead out of a total of 232,809 infections with symptoms of the infection. It is considered underrated by experts.
