China: Three-year-old boy dies due to strict measures for coronavirus – Police apologize

“We sincerely accept the criticism as well as the scrutiny of the media and netizens (…) to prevent such accidents from happening again,” Lanzhou police also said in an unusual statement of regret.

This is the latest in a series of health emergencies that have been hampered by the zero-tolerance policy on COVID-19.

In the last month, the death of a 14-year-old teenage girl who did not receive treatment while in quarantine;also caused outrage in the country.

Internet censors quickly deleted all mention of the incident.

In January, a pregnant woman miscarried at the door of a hospital in Xi’an, northern China, due to the absence of a valid PCR test for the new coronavirus.
