China to build 600,000 new 5G base stations by 2023

THE China will have built over 2.9 million base stations to advance the technology 5G by the end of 2023, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong pointed out on Sunday (5/3).

Beijing plans to add about 600,000 such technology stations this yearexpanding coverage by offering 5G services in rural areas and industrial parks, Jin told reporters.

China currently has more than 2.34 million base stations for 5G technology, while the number of 5G mobile phone users has exceeded 575 million users, according to the same minister who stressed that the uses of 5G technology have very wide applications in the economy, with an emphasis on the sectors of mining, energy supply, but also the production of large passenger aircraft.

Jin also said, as reported by the Athens News Agency, that Beijing will make efforts to promote the industrial use of 5G technology, especially in industrial production, as there are plans to build more than 10,000 5G technology industrial production units during the implementation period of the 14th Five-Year Economic Development Program (2021-2025).
