In Chinese yuan, China’s trade balance stood at CNY 550.1 billion in December compared to 494,300 million the previous month.
Exports fell -0.5% last month vs. 0.9% previously, while imports rebounded 2.2% vs -1.1% prior.

On a US dollar basis, China has reported a widening trade surpluswhile exports and imports registered a smaller drop than expected.
The trade balance stood at +78,000 million dollarscompared to the +76,200 million expected and the +69,840 million of the previous month.
- Exports (yoy): -9.9% vs -10.0% forecast and -8.7% prior.
- Imports (yoy): -7.5% vs -9.8% forecast and -10.6% prior.
Meanwhile, China’s trade surplus with the United States was $29.5 billion in December, up from a surplus of $24.33 billion in November.
