Chinese diplomatic spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Beijing is in communication with Washington about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s possible visit to Taiwan.
Hua Chunying warned that the US would bear the “responsibility” of a visit by Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan and that it would “pay the price”.
“It is certain that the US will bear the responsibility (of the consequences) and will have to pay the price for offending China’s sovereignty and security,” a Chinese diplomatic spokeswoman told reporters.
Nancy Pelosi started a four-nation Asian tour from Singapore yesterday and is expected to defy Beijing’s wrath and visit Taiwan.
The US Air Force aircraft carrying the speaker of the House of Representatives to Malaysia took off from Kuala Lumpur, according to the website Flightradar24. However, it has not been confirmed that Nancy Pelosi will be on the plane.
