Chinese ambassador to China’s foreign minister to protest

Chinese diplomacy announced today that the European Union ambassador to China, Nicolas Sapoui, was summoned

The European Union’s ambassador to China, Nicholas Sapu, was summoned to the Chinese Foreign Ministry today to be served with a “formal protest” on the sanctions imposed by Brussels on Chinese officials.

The sanctions, according to AMPE, were imposed because they were judged to be involved in human rights violations against minority Muslims. Uyghurs in Xinjiang province, in the western part of the Asian country.

In a statement, Chinese diplomacy said that Deputy Foreign Minister Qin Gang stressed to Mr. Sapui that the EU must recognize how serious the error is and to rectify it if it wants to avoid further eating away at its bilateral relationship with China.
