To what the boom of cryptocurrency mining brought the market, we have already said more than once. Another interesting story happened in China.

There, enterprising sellers decided to use the names of AMD and XFX companies in order to get the Radeon RX 580 video cards from ordinary people. At the same time, what is most interesting, no one tried to steal anything, and those very ordinary people sometimes could even be in the black.
So, electronics sellers sent people letters mentioning AMD and XFX, in which they said about the launch of a recall campaign on the Radeon RX 580. The owners of such cards were asked to send their adapters back to the stores, in exchange for receiving another video card: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti instead of RX 580 with 4 GB of memory and GTX 1060 with 3 GB instead of RX 580 with 8 GB of memory. AMD cards are still faster in these pairs, but that’s not all. Sellers went so far that for those who did not want to ship their adapters, they offered double the cost of those adapters.
The essence of all this action for the attackers themselves was that the Radeon RX 580 is much more profitable from the point of view of mining, and it is still possible to mine cryptocurrency on it. More specifically, such a card can bring up to $ 3 per day versus $ 1.2 for the GTX 1060. The stores just wanted to resell them to miners after receiving AMD cards at higher prices.
AMD and XFX have already stated that there is no recall campaign. AMD is also going to sue.
