The Chinese embassy in London today condemned Britain’s “irresponsible rhetoric” after Foreign Secretary Liz Truss summoned the Chinese ambassador to the UK to explain Beijing’s actions on Taiwan.
Truss summoned Zheng Zeguang earlier today, stressing that China’s “increasingly aggressive behavior” following the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi threatens peace and stability in the region around Taiwan.
Zheng “strongly rejected and strongly condemned the British side’s irresponsible rhetoric on China’s legitimate and necessary response to the US House Speaker’s visit to Taiwan” in a meeting he had with a senior British Foreign Office official, it said. the Chinese embassy on Twitter.
“Taiwan is an integral part of China’s territory. No foreign country, including the UK, has the right to interfere in China’s internal affairs.”
