Chinese President Xi arrives in France today for his first European tour since 2019

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrives in Paris today for a rare official visit, with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron expected to press him to reduce trade disputes between China and the EU and persuade him to use his influence with Russia on the war in Ukraine. Neither goal appears to be easy, with Xi's visit coming as tensions between his country and the EU over trade escalate.
