Chinese smartphones are taking over Russia: in July, the share of their sales was 70%

Several large Russian companies reported at once that Chinese manufacturers show significant growth compared to last year, their total sales in July exceeded 70% of the total market. This is reported by Izvestia.

M.Video-Eldorado estimates that Russians bought about 1.75 million Chinese smartphones last month — according to the company, they accounted for about 70% of sales (compared to 53% a year earlier). MegaFon confirms this statistics, reporting that more than 70% of consumers have chosen Chinese products.

According to Tele2, Xiaomi is still the leader – in July, its smartphones occupy 48% of the Russian market (42% a year earlier). The operator notes that other Chinese operators have also increased their popularity: Realme’s share of sales increased from 2% to 7%, and Tecno began to be chosen 3% more often. Xiaomi’s leadership is also confirmed in M.Video-Eldorado, adding that the Tecno brand has entered the top five for the first time.

Experts note that Chinese manufacturers are replacing companies that have left Russia, strengthening their positions due to attractive prices, the quality of gadgets, and a wide range of products. Mobile Research Group analyst Eldar Murtazin said in particular about Realme and Tecno: the growth in their popularity is due to the fact that these companies continue to deliver to Russia. In addition, he noted that in September Tecno could catch up with Realme in sales, and by the end of the year even surpass Realme – the reason is that the second has increased the cost of its devices, while Tecno has it lower, up to 20%.
