At the beginning of the year, the Chinese company Shanghai Tianshu Zhixin Semiconductor unveiled its first seven-nanometer Big Island GPU. The solution belongs to the GPGPU category and is aimed at computing, not games.

Now with a re-announcement, the company has revealed additional details of both the GPU itself and the cards based on it. So Big Island has 24 billion transistors and will be manufactured by TSMC. The solution combines not only the GPU itself, but also 32 GB of HBM2 memory with a bandwidth of 1.2 TB / s.

As a result, single precision performance (FP32) reaches 37 TFLOPS and 147 TFLOPS for FP16. For comparison, the AMD Instinct MI100 accelerator provides 23.1 and 184.6 TFLOPS, respectively, that is, the product of the Chinese company roughly corresponds to the top solution from AMD.

Of the rest, the PCIe 4.0 interface can be noted, as well as the existence of an accelerator based on the negotiated GPU in two versions: with a PCIe interface and OAM. The TDP of the adapter is 300W, which is identical to the Instinct MI100.
