The strong north winds that blow in the northern Aegean swept at 5 in the early hours of Thursday, the ship “Samos Island” coming from Piraeus. The ship has dropped anchor in the port of Chios assisted by Coast Guard boats and tugs, but has so far been unable to moor at the pier.
“Samos Island” transports a total of 332 passengers, 104 trucks, 83 cars. cars and 18 two-wheelers to Chios and Mytilene.
According to the port body, the incident occurred during the mooring process and due to adverse weather conditions prevailing in the specific sea area. There is already a tug near the ship in order to attempt to detach the ship.
