LAST UPDATE: 13:20

80% of the citizens, the middle and lower income strata, will see significant reductions in ENFIA, stressed the Minister of Finance, Chr. Staikouras, in his intervention, during the first day of elaboration of the bill for the new reduced ENFIA and the modernization of the operating framework of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, by the competent parliamentary committee.

Compared to 2018, individuals will pay, permanently, one billion euros less real estate tax, said Mr. Staikouras. Asked by the rapporteur of the official opposition, Tr. Alexiadis, if the reports are true that the cost of the reduction of ENFIA amounts to 350 million, as the relevant amount does not appear in the GLC report in this bill, Mr. Staikouras said that This amount has already been announced, and that in the end, the reduction of the certified tax is 360 million euros. He even added that the budgetary result will be smaller, as “when you reduce taxes, you increase their collection”.

He also noted that the measure is fully agreed with the institutions and that at the last meeting of the Eurogroup there were no objections.

Earlier, Mr. Alexiadis had asked the government to inform the Parliament about the cash, the progress of the budget, the total amount of seizures, while he criticized the government for passing a bill without the accompanying report of the GLC. costs the measures it brings. Give explanations for the course of budget execution, so that we can agree to proceed with more relief measures, said Mr. Alexiadis.

Specifically for ENFIA, Mr. Alexiadis said that the Official Gazette for the introduction of this tax has the signatures of Mr. Staikouras, Mitsotakis, Hatzidakis and others, and that today, even POMIDA talks about the complexity of the new measure does not allow ordinary citizens to understand it.

Responding, Mr. Staikouras said that the cash amounts to 39.7 billion euros and that the data of the state budget and the general government are published every month since 2012.

The government is moving in the wrong direction, said the rapporteur of the Movement for Change K. Skandalidis, referring to the measures of the government, talking about stitching measures without face for those who experience dramatic crisis and accuracy. “You choose to alleviate a little and temporarily those who do not have, and, bravely and permanently those who have. It is not a progressive reform that you bring”, said Mr. Skandalidis

Commenting on the position of Mr. Skandalidis, the Minister of Finance Chr. Staikouras said that the measures are required by Europe to be temporary. All countries are taking interim measures to deal with the energy crisis. Accordingly, the measures for the health crisis had to be temporary. It is forbidden by the European institutional framework and by the European Competition Commission to go beyond the framework of the measures, said Mr. Staikouras. He stressed, however, that all measures taken by the government have the mark of social efficiency and social reciprocity, that is, the mark of social liberalism.

The spokesperson of the KKE, Maria Komninaka, said that any reduction of the ENFIA rates is a “mockery” and that the only fair measure would be to abolish this memorandum “hike”.

The speaker of the Greek Solution, V. Billiardos said that the Greeks do not need alms, but the production of wealth that will be distributed fairly to all.

For his part, the speaker of MERA25, Kr. Arsenis asked for information about ENFIA in the western districts, NW Piraeus and all the slums of Athens.
