Chr. Staikouras: Accuracy gnaws at disposable income

The Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras, speaking to ANT1, admitted that “accuracy erodes the disposable income of the citizen”.

As he characteristically said, in order to deal with this problem, the Government is moving in 3 axes. The aid of the low and middle incomes, this aid should always reach the citizen and of course this aid should be financially supported by the state.

According to Mr. Staikouras, despite this unfavorable situation, the Government announced the reduction of ENFIA, from which 350 million euros less will be collected, the second increase of the minimum wage for 2022 has already been announced, the amount of which will be finalized. in May, while within the week the intervention for the subsidy in the energy bills for the month of February will be announced.

The Minister of Finance claimed that in 2021 the disposable income of the vast majority of households was strengthened through the interventions of the Government.

Asked whether the VAT rate for basic foodstuffs or the VAT rate for fuel will be reduced, he said that everything is open, but there is no such prospect in the near future, as in order for this to happen, our budgets must first allow it.

Regarding the Repayable Advance Payment, Mr. Staikouras said that while about 8.3 billion euros were distributed to the companies, the debts that have been confirmed are about 3 billion and in June they are finally expected to repay about 2.3 billion euros.
