State aid for September will rise to 2 billion, in order to support households and businesses, in terms of electricity bills, said Finance Minister Christos Staikouras.
Speaking on Real FM 97.7 radio, Mr. Staikouras, referring to the TIF package, emphasized that there are dozens of measures on the table, but what will be implemented will depend on the available fiscal space, as well as the priorities that the prime minister will set in collaboration with the financial staff of the government.
The Minister of Finance emphasized that extra income is coming to Greek households due to the reduction in unemployment, the increase in receipts from tourism, continued investments and the increase in the minimum wage.
He made special reference to the issue of the payment of taxes by the Greek citizens, noting that they are proceeding to cover the tax obligations without a reduction in deposits.
This good picture, he added, is clouded by inflation and problems in the energy sector, he underlined and added that the State has built lines of defense to support households and businesses.
Finally, he noted that much will be judged about the amount of interventions by three basic financial figures that will be made public at the beginning of September. The amount of growth for the second 3 months of 2022, the course of tax revenues for August, as well as the receipts from tourism in the decisive 2 months of July – August.
