Mr. Staikouras expressed his optimism for the course of the economy, from the podium of the 14th Congress of New Democracy.

“We have successfully dealt with multilevel crises… We have honored the vote of the people and we have kept our pre-election commitments by implementing our programs… With systematic effort we have managed to keep society upright and the economy functioning, recording positive developments. “The competitiveness of the economy, the permanent reduction of taxes and insurance contributions, the reduction of unemployment, the support of the disposable income of the citizens, the upgrading of the country’s creditworthiness, the repayment of the International Monetary Fund”, he stressed.

“The strong foundations we have laid make us optimistic that the new crisis will not lead to an irreversible situation. It will hit, but it will not divert the economy,” Staikouras said.

The Minister of Finance stated that the government is creating the financial possibilities for brave interventions and effective solutions.

“Our team has proven over time that it can successfully meet the historical challenges and missions in a leading and effective way. Even now, despite the great storms, we will succeed again. We will lead the national boat to calm seas,” he said.
