The Minister of Finance Chr. Staikouras.
According to ELSTAT data, the gross disposable income of households in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 3.8% compared to the corresponding quarter last year. It appears, in fact, higher than all the corresponding first quarters of the last decade, notes the Minister of Finance and adds: “The above development proves that the economic policy implemented by the Government, with the main axes being the reductions in taxes and insurance contributions and the consequent increase in of employment, combined with the broad array of support measures it has taken during the protracted crises, contribute significantly to supporting household disposable income and compensating for the losses caused by successive crises, which indeed lead to increases in the price level , of goods and services.
Support that is also reflected in the increase – by 42 billion euros – that citizens’ deposits have shown in the last 3 years.
Therefore, the significant pressures on family budgets – mainly of the weakest citizens – caused by the rise in inflation, in Greece but also internationally, are mitigated, to a significant extent thanks to the correct and effective economic strategy of the Government.
We continue methodically and decisively to implement our plan, with the aim of overcoming the turbulence caused by the multi-level crises and continuing on the path of high and sustainable growth, the creation of many and well-paid new jobs and the strengthening of social cohesion “.
