From this year and permanently, the citizens will pay 860 million euros less ENFIA than they paid on SYRIZA, stressed the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras, in the plenary session of the Parliament, in his intervention on the bill for the modernization of the operating framework of Kefal. which includes a provision for the new reduced Single Property Tax.
Responding to the SYRIZA rapporteur, Tryfonas Alexiadis, who noted that the report of the General Accountant of the State does not mention 360 million euros (new reduction of ENFIA), Mr. Staikouras said that the reduction of ENFIA is on average at 35%, is exclusively the work of the ND government and that it exceeds the pre-election commitment for a 30% reduction.
In particular, he noted that the certified tax (estimates for 2022) is 2.234 billion euros, while for the previous year it was 2.587 billion euros, “so essentially, 354 million euros. And because we make some interventions with legislative improvements, which we submit “, it reaches 360 million euros, a confirmed tax”, said Mr. Staikouras.
As for the ratio of the reduction to 2018, he said that it was 3.093 billion euros, and we go to 2.234 billion euros, that is, “860 million less tax to the citizens, compared to what you imposed in 2018”, said the Minister of Finance. He also pointed out that, in the collection of ENFIA, we estimate that the reduction will not be 360 million euros but, of the order of 240-250 million euros. “Why do we predict a smaller reduction of the collected ENFIA? Because, because we reduce the tax rates, experience shows that the collection is increasing. Every 1% increase in the collection leads to an increase of the ENFIA, of the order of 20 million euros”, added Mr. Staikouras.
Finally, when asked by Mr. Alexiadis about the state reserves, he said that today it is 38.6 billion euros, and at the end of the year about 34 billion euros.
