The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis, is in Rome to make a series of contacts today. In particular, he will meet with the head of the Italian Civil Protection, Fabrizio Curzio, as well as with the Deputy Minister of Interior, Carlo Sibilia, and the leadership of the Italian Fire Brigade. He will also have a meeting with the Minister of Ecological Transition, Roberto Cingolani.
During the visit, Mr. Stylianidis will have the opportunity to exchange views on organizational and operational issues of common interest, as well as on issues of prevention and mitigation of the effects of the climate crisis, in view of the firefighting period that has begun and the common challenges facing the two countries in the field of forest protection. At the same time, he will discuss the latest details on the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Greece and Italy in the field of civil protection.
It is noted that Greece and Italy already cooperate closely at bilateral level in all issues related to the treatment of natural disasters, while their cooperation within the European Civil Protection Mechanism and rescEU is particularly intensive.
