Chr. Stylianidis: Academy of Civil Protection is established

The establishment of the Academy of Civil Protection, where volunteers and officials of the local government and other bodies will attend special seminars to deal with natural disasters and special training, announced the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis, at the conference of the Hellenic Regional Council which takes place in Edipsos and whose work is being completed today.

Mr. Stylianidis underlined the importance of “cooperation and synergies with all stakeholders” and especially the participation of Civil Society in preventing and addressing the consequences of climate change. “Synergies with citizens are the only way to achieve significant results,” he said, referring to the formation of a “grand alliance” based on a “holistic three-pronged approach”: Prevention, preparation-preparedness. , durability. According to him, its implementation will be articulated at national, regional and senior level.

The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection noted that “all indications are that the Mediterranean is the hot spot of the environmental crisis”, which is why he stressed the need for the immediate “adoption of policies that mitigate the effects and strengthen the adaptability of all new climate data “.

Also, Mr. Stylianidis referred in particular to what the government has done so far in this direction, pointing out that “Greece becomes the country that is a pioneer in this field”, which is why the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at the World Conference on Climate Change in Glasgow “has attracted the interest of world leaders and the media”.
