John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have always been open about their lives together over the years, sharing snippets on social media as they grew into a large family of six.
Now, they’re opening the doors for fans to get a full look at their new, airy, earth-toned Beverly Hills abode, which was recently purchased from Rihanna.
John and Chrissy’s homes have been important “chapters” in their lives, the model told Architectural Digest (AD) magazine. In AD’s September global issue, they are turning over a new leaf, welcoming readers to their newly renovated space.
For the cover, the couple posed with three of their children, Luna, Miles and Esti – newborn Wren, who arrived in June, is not pictured – in the spacious property, which was renovated by architect and interior designer Jake Arnold. . Arnold worked his magic at the homes of Katy Perry, Rashida Jones and Aaron Paul, and also previously worked in the Legend recording studio.

“We’re always open to a new house or changing the house we’re in,” Teigen told AD in the cover story. “When she says ‘we,’ she means her,” added Legend. “But it’s true. We are not afraid to change things.”
Inviting Shrine
Legend told AD that his last home was a little “darker” and “cloistered,” and that he and Teigen were drawn to the new property because of the quality of its light. “We love how open it is and how connected it is to the outdoors. We wanted to create something magical, especially for the kids,” he explained.
Arnold is known for his experiment with soft, uplifting neutrals and creating warm, welcoming spaces – which he adapted to the couple’s tastes.
“They like elements with a little bit of glam and fun, and they’re drawn to the work of bold, contemporary craftsmen, which I’m not in the habit of,” Arnold told AD. “But Chrissy and John are the most welcoming and supportive people and they trusted me. My challenge was to take this new, contemporary home and apply my philosophy to it – make it inviting and livable, a version of what I do that speaks directly to their personalities.”

The couple previously told the magazine that they are both drawn to the romantic, feminine design, which is echoed in the open-plan home through blush and gold accents, sinuous furniture and sculptural chandeliers.
Arnold emphasized curved shapes throughout the home, with sharp edges almost impossible to find in furniture, decor, and interior details. He even went so far as to replace the old steel and glass angular staircase in the house entirely.
“I wanted to do a lot of rounded silhouettes to offset the straight architecture,” explained Arnold. “They use every room in the house and nowhere is off-limits to the kids, so everything had to be casual and comfortable.”

In the kids’ rooms, Arnold has upped the ante, with a pink and lilac paradise for seven-year-old Luna, complete with a slide into a ball pit and a safari-themed space for five. One-year-old Miles, which features oversized giraffes, a bunk jeep and a rock-climbing wall.
“We know the rooms will evolve as the kids grow, but they’re perfect for now. They are like little dream worlds,” Arnold said.
