Christie’s will sell nine rare NFTs from CryptoPunks in May

Auction house Christie’s will sell nine rare NFT CryptoPunks that were created in the early days of the project’s launch in 2017. The announcement led to price increases for other NFT CryptoPunks as well.

According to a statement At Christie’s on Twitter, nine “rare” digital collectibles in the form of CryptoPunks NFTs will be auctioned. Unique tokens are part of Larva Labs’ own collection of marketplaces and will be listed at the 21st Century Evening Sale in May.

All nine NFTs do not exceed 1,000, which means that they were created at the dawn of CryptoPunks in 2017. Numbers include 2, 532, 58, 30, 635, 602, 768, 603 and 757 with a “rare alien” collectible that will also be up for auction.

This decision by Christie’s suggests that NFT continues to attract the attention of traditional companies in the art world. Founded 22 years before Christie’s, rival auction house Sotheby’s recently announced that it would sell the artist Pak as an NFT at the Nifty Gateway.

An NFT is a tokenized version of a digital or real asset that exists in one instance. In March, the British auction house Christie’s held the first auction with a lot in the form of NFT – a digital painting by the artist Beeple was sold for a record $ 69.3 million.

Twitter User DeGenData wrotethat “CryptoPunks sellers are in a hurry to remove their NFTs from the market” after Christie’s said the prices of tokens are “going up like crazy.” According to him, the lower threshold of the price of NFT CryptoPunks has already risen to 5 ETH.
