The actress Christina Applegate 52, opened up about the daily struggles she faces amid her tough battle with multiple sclerosis. The series’ protagonist “Dial a Friend for Murder” who shared her diagnosis of the autoimmune disease in August 2021, recounted the “perrengue” she experiences when trying to wax.
In the most recent episode of her own podcast, “Messy,” hosted alongside the actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler 43, who has also been dealing with multiple sclerosis since she was 20, Christina addressed the challenges of the degenerative neurological condition.
“[Depilação] It’s hard when your belly is as big as mine. You have to lift it up and try to reach… you know what I mean? You try to balance yourself with one hand while using the other, which results in falls in the shower. I know other people with MS can relate to this.”
Jamie-Lynn added: “You literally have to sit on the shower floor and contort yourself in weird ways to do it.”
Christina recently admitted that she has been using humor as a way to cope with her illness. During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the star addressed her reality in a relaxed manner.
“I was thinking, wouldn’t it be funny if I came in and did a somersault like Willy Wonka? And then you’d think, ‘She’s a liar.’ I’m not. I’m literally disabled.”
The presenter replied: “I’ve noticed from our exchanges that you have a rather dark sense of humour.”
The actress admitted: “That’s how I resist. That’s how I stay well.”
Christina explained that if she wasn’t laughing she would be crying all the time, and the late-night host added: “You probably do a little bit of that, I’m sure.”
“Every day when I wake up. It’s fine. I mean, it’s horrible. I’m not going to lie. And I don’t think anyone who has MS is going to say, ‘This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me,’” she said. “It really isn’t. Because that would mean you have a really bad life if this is the best thing that’s ever happened to you.”
