The price of the Christmas basket in the country rose 5.91% this year, according to a preliminary survey prepared by Fipe (Foundation Institute of Economic Research). At the end of 2020, the Christmas food basket cost around R$ 309.86, but this year, it is worth approximately R$ 328.17.
The total increase is around R$18.
The calculation considers the variation of the Consumer Price Index (IPC) of the products analyzed in a comparison between the second quadris Semana of December 2020 with the values ​​closed in October this year.
The traditional Panettone had its adjustment of 25%, as well as the strawberry, used in some Christmas desserts. Meats are also more expensive and filet mignon, in particular, had an increase of 35%.
According to Fipe, this widespread increase was driven by high inflation in Brazil.
