Christmas: who we go to for lunch or dinner is our business

Self-certification always. In other people’s homes no more than once a day. These are the basics to learn by heart. In the “red” days of the Christmas holidays (24,25,26,27 and 31 December, 1,2,3,5,6 January) the squeeze on family visits has been extended, but with two obligations: the document that justifies the movement and the number of times we move from home in those days: once, no more. Let’s see better.

On Christmas day it is no longer forced to stay at home only with family members living together.

You can invite family or friends, as long as they are two and no more. Allowed their children, only if under 14 or disabled people. A family of four with children over 14 cannot visit grandparents, cannot move.

Self-certification will always be required to move. On holidays and days before holidays when Italy is in the red zone, the move must always be justified.

In the form you will not have to indicate the name of the people you are going to, due to the privacy law. In the form, which can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of the Interior, however, you must indicate the departure and arrival addresses.

We only move once a day.It means that either you have lunch or dinner outside the home. Not more.

The curfew always applies, even for those who take advantage of the derogation for travel, which are therefore only allowed from 5 to 22 and, the first of the year, from 7 to 22.

From today (21 December) it is no longer possible to visit parents outside the region until 6 January, unless you are resident in the family home.

You can’t even go to the second house anymore, unless it’s within your region. The second house can always be reached even on red days, between December 24 and January 6, thanks to an exception added in the new decree.

Moreover if you are already in a second home in another region, it is not necessary to wait until January 7 to return since the return to one’s residence, domicile or home is always permitted.

If you live in a small town, under 5000 inhabitants, where there are not all the services you can move within 30 kilometers, but without going to the main towns.

You can go to mass. On Christmas Eve, the CEI anticipates the services in order to allow the return home by 10 pm. Possibly it would be better to go to the church closest to home carrying the self-certification.

The hotels, the farmhouses, bed and breakfasts are open but from today 21 December they are no longer reachable if in another region. If within your own you can only go there until 23 December, from 28 to 30 December or 4 January. And then go home whenever you want, even on red zone days.

Bars and restaurants are open they are open until 6 pm until 11 pm. From December 24th to January 6th they will be closed and will be able to work only with take-away or with home. On red days it is allowed to go out until 10pm to collect take-away food.

Finally, you can go abroad, but those traveling for tourism or to reunite with family members, upon returning to Italy he will have to spend 14 days in quarantine.
