The appointment of Maria Achela Olgin Kuyar as a personal envoy of the Secretary -General for the Cyprus issue was reported by UN Deputy Secretary General Farhan Hak during the press briefing at the International Organization’s headquarters in New York. Mr Huck said that “on Friday, the Secretary -General appointed Maria Achela Olgin Kuyar from Colombia as his personal envoy to the Cyprus issue. Following the informal meeting on the Cyprus issue in an expanded composition, held in Geneva on March 17 and 18, the Secretary -General asked Mrs Olgin to reconnect with the parties in order to work for the next steps on the Cyprus issue and to advise him.
