At the Summit which takes place in Brussels is the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis. “I will have the opportunity to inform my counterparts about the Cyprus issuefor this new approach of ours for a more substantial, more proactive EU involvement, especially at this stage when the key issue is to break the deadlock and start the talks again,” he said on Thursday (23/3).
“I look forward to my first appearance at the European Council today with important issues on the agenda. This concerns Ukraine, energy, economy and competitiveness, immigration and after consultation with the president of the European Council, I will have the opportunity to inform my counterparts about the Cyprus issue, about this new approach of ours for a more substantial more leading participation of the EU, especially in the current phase when the main issue is to break the deadlock and start the talks again” he said while attending the Summit, as reported by the Athens News Agency.
“I have to say that I am satisfied with what I have heard so far in yesterday’s debates of the three institutions, this morning in the EPP, but also in a meeting I had with the Prime Minister of Sweden. And what will be done, this effort will continue so that with the completion of the elections in Turkey, we will see to what extent it can be implemented. It is important that it is completely understood, this approach of ours is welcomed and what we should do at this moment is to work together, and this is what we have agreed on, especially with the president of the Commission and the president of the Council for the implementation of the decision” completed.
