Analytics company Appfigures has published a report on the five most downloaded browsers on mobile platforms (from the App Store and Google Play). It is presented in the form of a graph and compares the number of downloads of the five most popular browsers in 2020 and 2021. The statistics are not obvious – they show subtle trends regarding each of the collected browsers.
Chrome still occupies the first line in the ranking in terms of the number of downloads on mobile devices, but in 2021 its indicator fell by 10 million. However, this does not prevent it from having a large lead over everyone else, as before. Opera was in fourth place and Firefox was in second – this year they switched places as Mozilla’s browser downloads fell 24%. The dark horse was Brave, which more than doubled in popularity in a year. The top five is closed by Microsoft Edge, which lost 36%.
It is not known what caused such a significant change in the rating in just a year. In 2021, between January and October, the top five most popular web browsers received a total of 136 million downloads worldwide, which is 5% less than in the same period last year.
