Atlas VPN, which distributes the VPN service of the same name, published a report based on data from the VulDB portal, according to which 303 vulnerabilities were found in Chrome in 2022 (as of October 5), which is significantly more than in all other browsers in total. Opera found no security holes at all, while Safari turned out to have “only” 26 of them.
In terms of the number of vulnerabilities found over the entire existence of the browser, Chrome is also in first place, and Opera is in last. In this ranking, Safari moved from penultimate to third place, and Edge took fourth.
Both of these statistics are unlikely to become the basis for judging the degree of security of a particular browser. It’s more likely that rankings depend heavily on the popularity of web browsers: Chrome has a huge lead because it has the most users, which is why it gets the most attention. But with Opera, the situation is completely reversed.
