Google previously stated that Chrome would end support on Windows 7 and 8.1 in January 2023, along with the end of extended support for operating systems from Microsoft. Now, the browser has started to send a notification to users of these platforms that they should upgrade to at least Windows 10 “to get new Google Chrome features.”
Such notifications are continuous – they can be closed with a cross, but the next one will appear with a new browser opening. In addition, these messages are always displayed in the active browser tab.
The Internet has already found a way to turn off such notifications:
- You need to call the “Run” menu (Win + R) and go to the registry editor by typing the command regedit.exe.
- Next, go to the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Google\Chrome (if there is no such key, you need to create it by right-clicking and selecting the Key option).
- After that, right-click on the Chrome folder and select New ➝ Dword (32-bit).
- The created parameter must be given a name. SuppressUnsupportedOSWarning.
- Then you should double-click on it and set its value to one (write “1” in the input field).
- The final step is to restart the computer.
