“Cidade de Deus”: Season 2 recordings come to an end

THE HBO recently announced that the recordings of the second season of “City of God: the fight continues” They came to an end. The production, which has the return of several cast members and the introduction of new characters, was filmed in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

With the first season released in 2024 and available on the Max platform, the series continues the story that started with the famous 2002 movie.

The plot of the series is set two decades after the events of the movie “Cidade de Deus” (2002), a classic of the national cinema of Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund. Production is a spin-off, which continues history, adapting Paulo Lins’s literary work.

The departure of a young drug dealer places the city of God again in dispute. Residents find themselves cornered between traffickers, militia and public power, but the need to escape this cycle makes the community unite around a project to face the oppressor.

Although the release date has not yet been confirmed, the expectation around the new season’s debut is high. The second season will consist of six episodes, maintaining the rhythm and drama that won the critic and the audience the previous season.

The cast features the returns of Alexandre Rodrigues, Roberta Rodrigues, Sabrina Rosa, Andreia Horta, Kiko Marques, Dhonata Augusto, Luellem de Castro, Victor Andrade, Carol Dall Farra, Rafael Lozano, Shirley Cruz and Otavio Linhares.

In addition, Matheus Nachtergaele, who revives the character Carrots of the 2002 film, returns to enrich the plot.

The series continues to be produced by O2 Filmes, with Andrea Barata Ribeiro and Fernando Meirelles as producers, and the general direction of Aly Muritiba.
