Steve Knight creator of “Peaky Blinders” he confirmed, in an interview with BirminghamWorldwhich the Oscar winner Cillian Murphy will be in the film derived from the series.
“He’s definitely getting back into it. We will be filming in September, near Digbeth,” he revealed.
The actor played the protagonist of the plot, Thomas Shelby, for years. The series has six seasons.
Last year, Murphy even said that he was open to the idea of returning to the series' universe.
“I'm open to the idea. I always thought there was more story to tell. Who knows?”, he said in December in the “Actors on Actors” section of Variety.
“I'm open to the idea, even though I think six seasons have been almost perfect. Sometimes it's difficult to switch to a film format, but I like the ambiguity of the ending. And I’m always open to good scripts,” he added.
In the interview for the BirminghamWorld, Knight also talked about Murphy's Oscar win for Best Actor for “Oppenheimer.”
“It was so deserved. I mean, he's brilliant and he's a great human being and he leads the line when we're filming and he's so level-headed and direct. He deserves everything he gets,” he said.
