The Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, signed this Wednesday (19) an ordinance to support municipalities in Bahia that face emergencies because of the rains. In total, R$ 104.6 million will be allocated to the 155 cities that have declared a state of public calamity.

According to the folder, the resource will be allocated to Primary Care, gateway to the Unified Health System (SUS). In addition to financial aid, 182 new professionals linked to the Mais Médicos Project for Brazil started activities to help the population of Bahia.

Also according to the Ministry of Health, in the course of 2022 the number of doctors should increase in the state. Until February 6, the public notice is open for interested parties to sign up for the health professionals recruitment program.

There was also a temporary suspension of the professionals’ recess for a period of 30 days. Currently, according to the federal government, 1,497 health professionals are working in the state of Bahia.

“The calculation of the transfer to municipalities was based on December data sent to the Primary Care Information System (Sisab)”, the ministry said.
