Cities on the Move: Impact and community development

Over the course of several months, the production team traveled more than 12 thousand kilometers, crossing different regions of Brazil.

More than 100 residents, company partners and employees were interviewed in more than 30 hours of interviews. This effort ensures that each episode of the series not only tells stories, but also reveals the social and economic transformations in the communities covered.

The eighth episode focuses on the city of Seara, in Santa Catarina, where JBS’ presence has been a driver of development and significant social improvements.

This episode presents a city with a population of 18,620 inhabitants, which saw its GDP per capita grow 117% between 2013 and 2021, following the acquisition of the company Seara by JBS.

The company’s influence in Seara goes beyond the economy, being reflected in infrastructure and services that benefit the local population.

Inspiring Stories

Bruna Filippi, a JBS employee for 14 years, shares the story of her family, which has roots in the company: “Everything we have today is thanks to the work we did for JBS. We are grateful to work somewhere that truly cares for us. My sister and I grew up watching our parents work here, and now our children also benefit from the company’s facilities, such as the Sonho daycare center, where all five of the family’s children were welcomed.”

Tânia Letícia Beneti, municipal public servant and mother of Paola, aged 3, highlights the impact of JBS on the community, even for those who are not directly employed by the company. “I don’t work at JBS, but I chose the daycare they offer because of its high quality of teaching and care. The daycare is open 24 hours a day, which is essential for parents who work varying hours. JBS not only employs many people in the city, but its initiatives also improve the lives of the entire community”, he reveals.

JBS’s impact on Seara

JBS is the largest employer in Seara, with approximately 4 thousand direct employees. The company plays a fundamental role in the local economy, but its impact goes beyond that, as evidenced by the Sonho daycare center, which serves 95 children, contributing to child development and support for working families.

This episode of “Cities in Movement” reports on the economic growth brought by JBS and shows how the company acts as a community educator, investing in services that directly benefit local families and improve the quality of life in Seara.
