The city of São Paulo is analyzing the parade of ten street blocks that missed the official registration deadline for Carnival 2023. The information was confirmed by the Municipal Secretary of Culture, Aline Torres, to CNN .
These street blocks were not able to confirm the registration in time, but they have been trying to contact the organization to participate in the party since the beginning of the year.
The movement was widely publicized by the block Tarado Ni Você. Considered one of the traditional ones in the city center, the parade honors singer Caetano Veloso and is expected to bring together more than 100,000 people.
“We received this public manifestation from Tarado Ni Você and we found it coherent. We have been without Carnival for two years. As much as they missed the deadline, which ended in November, they made a formal communication with us”, explained Aline Torres.
For this reason, and understanding the desire of the blocks to parade in the first post-pandemic Carnival, the city of São Paulo opened a dialogue with those who had already formally expressed their desire to parade, even though they missed the deadline.
“We are analyzing case by case to be able to absorb this in a democratic way”, said the secretary.
This week, Tarado Ni Você had confirmation of the parade at the traditional spot on Avenida Ipiranga and São João.
According to a report by Mari Santos, singer of the parade, at CNN , the block did not receive the e-mail sent by the City of São Paulo about opening the registration. As they missed the deadline, the members of the procession sought the organ to try to parade.
On Tuesday (7), the block met with the secretary and received authorization to parade in the Carnival of São Paulo. The Tarado Ni Você parade will take place on Saturday (18), starting at 9am.
For the pre-Carnival, which starts this weekend, the Carnival and the post-party, 480 parades are expected from around 458 street blocks. The lists were published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality of São Paulo.
