City Hall of Rio will analyze scenario with Ômicron before Carnival, says secretary

The municipal secretary of Health of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Soranz, said this Monday (3), in an interview with CNN, that the city will analyze the epidemiological scenario with the advancement of the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus to define the rules that will be implemented during Carnival.

“We’re going to check if in fact the Ômicron variant will produce a significant increase in cases, if the variant causes more hospitalizations or more deaths than the others. At first, it seems to be a variant that causes much less severe cases than the others”, explained Soranz.

“Anyway, we will be analyzing these numbers throughout the first days of January in order to give the rules that will take place at Carnival”, he continued.
