City halls await arrival of dengue vaccine for campaign

The Ministry of Health has already sent 1,235,119 doses to states and municipalities since the start of vaccination against dengue. Of these, 534,631 were registered as applied. All of these doses were donated by the producing laboratory.

The vaccines were distributed to states following a ranking established based on specific criteria, such as large municipalities (population greater than or equal to 100 thousand inhabitants) and with high dengue transmission in the last 10 years.

Of the total doses donated, 668,000 are close to expiry date, scheduled for April 30th. As a result, the Ministry of Health will redistribute these doses among municipalities not included in the first wave. The doses will be redistributed on a loan basis, that is, there will be replacement by the Ministry of Health.

In addition to this redistribution, the department received a new shipment of 930,000 doses of dengue vaccine. This time, the doses were compared. These will be distributed to the 521 municipalities previously selected and to the 154 now covered by the expansion.

Ten municipalities in each state covered, such as Acre, Amazonas, Bahia, Goiás, Maranhão, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte, in addition to the city of São Paulo, will be able to receive the redistributed doses.

A CNN contacted all states involved in this new distribution.

The city of São Paulo released a note informing that the municipality will be provided with doses of the dengue vaccine and that Mayor Ricardo Nunes, initially, will apply the vaccines in schools, to children aged 10 to 14.

The São Paulo State Health Department reported that, in addition to the redistribution involving the capital, 50 new municipalities should receive 421,155 doses.

The State Department of Health of Goiás (SES-GO) reported that, for now, there is no prospect of sending new doses by the Ministry of Health to Goiás, but there will be a relocation of doses already distributed in the 134 municipalities. Now, another 112 municipalities will receive the doses and will be relocated.

The other states have not yet responded.
