Rio de Janeiro continues to record records of Covid-19 cases. Of the more than 107,000 tests carried out this Saturday (15), practically a third, about 30,000 people, are contaminated.
The 14 testing stations in the municipality have served more than 100,000 people every day. In total, there are 60,823 confirmed cases, including 221 considered serious. Municipal Health Secretary Daniel Soranz told CNN that the data record only the tests carried out in the public centers of the capital, without counting the exams of the private networks.
Furthermore, the data is dammed up. The update in the online system will only be made next Monday (17).
The Municipal Health Department attributes the massive testing to the growing numbers registered in the city of Rio. The number of hospitalized patients also increased. Until the afternoon of this Saturday (15), 435 people were hospitalized for diagnosis of Covid-19.
The city of Rio de Janeiro recorded one death caused by the disease this Saturday. The victim was an 82-year-old woman. With this, there are already 19 deaths in the municipality since the beginning of the year caused by infection with the new coronavirus.
At the moment, the queue for beds in the municipality has 19 people. Last week, the Department of Health asked the Ministry of Health to reactivate 400 beds in federal hospitals and is awaiting a return. The occupancy rate in the city is at 59%.
